I've built a remote bird detector, attached it to my backyard bird feeder. I'm now snapping hundreds of pics of the same birds over and over.

To do this, I've built Arduino-based microcontroller circuits with XBee wireless.

Instructions, circuits & code available. Plz ask.

I like this.
certainly cool, even if its for the same birds. (You learned something about the population of your area's birds that you might not have known in such detail)

btw, how is the cupcake going?

We have few, if any transient birds in my back yard. Beyond the four in the pictures, there's the female cardinal who doesn't like that food. There's a pair of doves that eat from the ground, and presumably an unseen female bunting.

The cupcake is sitting on my desk, unmoving. I'm building a new extruder barrel for it, but I misplaced the darned thing after I spent hours machining it. I don't feel like making another one, especially in this heat. The small portable A/C unit in my garage doesn't make it comfortable in my garage, even at night.

Hi there, i was going through and looking at everyone on LJ with the arduino interest (not as many as you'd think) and found this. Would you be willing to post this project on arduino_related? I think it's a great use of Xbees and the arduino.

It looks like a wire is running down into the tupperware box, i'm guessing that's for power? Is it solar?

Thanks for the reply!

Sure, I'll xpost. I hadn't heard of the group before.

Yes, the wire running down to the box is power, but no, it's not solar. That was an expedience on my part. No reason for it not to be, though.

I've fixed up the packaging a bit since then to make it somewhat more permanent. I'll take some pix & post those, too.

Other projects in the works! (nach)
